Chevrolet retains its core four drivers for 2016 GT season

Chevrolet has re-signed the four drivers who make up the core of its works GT line-up for next season's programme with the Corvette C7.R

Oliver Gavin, Jan Magnussen, Antonio Garcia and Tommy Milner have all had their contracts renewed for a programme that Chevrolet said is "expected to include" the full renamed IMSA SportsCar Championship and a return to the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Chevrolet Racing director Mark Kent said: "We are pleased to have the Corvette Racing driver line-up set for 2016.

"Antonio, Jan, Oliver and Tommy have been behind the wheel of the familiar yellow Corvettes for several seasons now.

"Having our drivers in place provides Corvette Racing the opportunity to maintain its focus on preparing for the 2016 season.

"With the addition of new cars and competitors to our class [a reference to the new Ford GT], preparation will be key.

"Our goal is to ready ourselves for the 2016 Daytona 24 Hours [the opening round of next year's IMSA series] and start the season off with a repeat victory."

Gavin, who is paired with Milner in this year's United SportCar Championship, said he was "delighted to be back with Corvette Racing for a 15th year".

"The continuity of our driver line-up is fantastic," he continued. "We have a great mix of youth and experience.

"It shows with the successes that we've had - the championships and race wins - that the core four drivers work well together."

Pratt & Miller, which runs the Corvette Racing programme, is evolving the existing C7.R to the new GTE rules that will be in force in both IMSA and in the World Endurance Championship that includes Le Mans.
