Oschersleben DTM: Rookie Tom Blomqvist wins in another BMW sweep

Starting from the front row of the grid for the first time, the Formula 3 graduate beat team-mate Augusto Farfus off the line, took the lead at the first corner and never looked back.

He built his lead throughout the hour, eventually finishing 7.8 seconds clear to become the 10th different winner in 14 races this season.

The race was red flagged on the final lap when Lucas Auer crashed heavily at the penultimate corner. The Mercedes rookie was able to get out of his car.

Farfus was a lonely second, while Marco Wittmann completed the podium, having gained two spots initially off the line.

The reigning champion then found his way past Antonio Felix da Costa late in the first half of the race to take third.

Further back, da Costa eventually made it an all-BMW top four, surviving intense pressure from Pascal Wehrlein during the second half of the race.

Wehrlein will be investigated post-race by the stewards for a delay in illuminating the tyre change light on his Mercedes.

The light wasn't turned on in pitlane and his crew eventually had to ask Wehrlein to flick the switch manually, after the permitted two-lap window.

With Mattias Ekstrom finishing 11th - from 18th and following a slow pitstop - Wehrlein leaves Oschersleben with a 14-point championship lead with four races remaining.

Paul di Resta was a lonely sixth, ahead of Saturday winner Timo Glock.

The best of the Audi drivers was Jamie Green in eighth, the Brit fighting hard all race to keep the significantly lighter BMW of Maxime Martin at bay, while Bruno Spengler claimed the final point for 10th after holding out Ekstrom.

Spengler made it seven BMWs inside the points, and the remaining M4 driver, Martin Tomczyk, was running with di Resta before being served a drive-through penalty for an unsafe release in pitlane, eventually finishing 20th.

There was trouble at the first corner again, but not as much as Saturday's race, with Christian Vietoris tagging Edoardo Mortara.

The Spaniard was out on the spot, while Nico Muller unsuccessfully sought to take to the gravel to avoid the incident, and was also unable to continue.

UPDATE: Stewards have handed Wehrlein's HWA team a €1000 fine for the delay in activating the pitstop light.
