Revised Force India F1 car now set for British Grand Prix debut

Force India's 'B-spec' Formula 1 car will not run for the first time until the British Grand Prix, says Sergio Perez, rather than appearing at the post-Austria test

The revised car passed its crash test following last month's Monaco GP, with the ideal plan having been to introduce the package at the Red Bull Ring test next week.

However, Perez and Nico Hulkenberg are now set to both drive the new car for the first time at the team's home race, with only elements of it being used for the test.

"We're going to have it for Silverstone," said Perez when asked when the team would have the updated car.

"We're obviously doing some testing with some of the parts of the new spec but the main upgrade will come to Silverstone.

"It's definitely very good news as it's only one race left.

"Hopefully we can score points this weekend then aim for a much better second half of the year with the upgraded car."

Perez also revealed he will use his second power unit of the season, after the team received an upgrade from Mercedes.

With the Red Bull Ring being a power track, Perez is hopeful of a strong result.

"I think it is a good place to have a new engine, an upgraded version," he said.

"This track is quite important for the engine so hopefully it can give us a good boost and we can be in a great position.

"We have a good engine so this track should suit a bit better our car.

"It doesn't have many high-speed corners so we should be a bit better here.

"I'm optimistic for this weekend. Last year, I was really strong around here and I expect to be good."
