Riley Viper team lands entry for 2015 Le Mans 24 Hours

The Riley Motorsports Dodge Viper squad will contest the Le Mans 24 Hours after the withdrawal of one of the two Team SARD Morand Morgans

The GTE Am class Dodge SRT Viper GTS-R has moved up from its position as first reserve for the blue-riband round of the World Endurance Championship on June 13/14.

The Riley Viper, one of the cars with which it mounted a successful assault on the GT Le Mans class of last year's Tudor United SportsCar Championship, will be driven by Jeroen Bleekemolon and Ben Keating.

Team boss Bill Riley, who had on May 31, told AUTOSPORT: "This is great news and particularly timely because we are just packing up the car and the equipment to freight it to France."

The team is currently working on finding a mandatory bronze-ranked driver to fill the final seat in the car alongside Bleekemolen and Keating.

Team SARD Morand has reduced its WEC entry to one car after being.

The no-show followed the failure of buy-out of the team that had been due to guarantee its participation in the WEC with a pair of Morgan-Judd/BMW EVOs.

It is believed that this deal has yet to be completed, but no communication has been forthcoming from the team.

Pierre Ragues and Olivier Webb are listed as the drivers for the next WEC round at Spa at the start of May and it is expected that they will be joined by Zoel Amberg.

Chinese entrant KCMG moves up to become first reserve for Le Mans with its second LMP2 entry.

It is currently listed as an open-top ORECA-Nissan 03R, but the team has not ruled out switching to the second of its new 05 coupes.

Riley Tech will run Viper GTS-R chassis #3 at Le Mans in June. It was raced by Marc Goossens and Dominik Farnbacher in the majority of last year's USC, although eventual GTLM drivers' champion Kuno Wittmer sealed the title aboard chassis #3 at the Petit Le Mans 10-hour enduro at Road Atlanta in October.
