Double European champion Timerzyanov to Olsbergs Ford in World RX

Double European Rallycross champion Timur Timerzyanov will race an OlsbergsMSE Ford Fiesta in the World Rallycross Championship this season after parting with the works Peugeot-Hansen team

The move follows the announcement last week that Frenchman Davy Jeanney will partner Timmy Hansen in the Peugeot squad in 2015.

Timerzyanov's Ford will be an 'individual entry' rather than part of the main Olsbergs team with Andreas Bakkerud and Reinis Nitiss.

"Team boss Andreas Eriksson wants to be the best and he will do anything to try to do that," said Timerzyanov.

"The people in this organisation know every bolt on the cars and they know what they need to do to win. I trust this team."

Timerzyanov won both of his European titles in a Hansen Motorsport run Citroen DS3, but has driven for the OMSE team previously when he deputised for Marcus Gronholm at a Las Vegas Global Rallycross event in 2012.

Bakkerud and Nitiss remain with the works supported OlsbergsMSE Ford team for a second term in World RX.

Nitiss won in only his third Supercar event in Norway last season, while Bakkerud claimed wins in Britain and Turkey. Between them, the pair amassed 10 podiums in total last year.

"I like the atmosphere in the team," said Nitiss. "The mechanics, engineers and drivers work together on the same goal and had a great year in 2014. I know we're going to keep up the momentum this season."

The Ford outfit will also continue to field a team in the Global Rallycross Championship, where 2014 champion Joni Wiman will be joined by Supercar newcomer Mitchell DeJong.

"We're excited to continue our partnership with the Olsbergs MSE Ford team," said Jamie Allison, director of Ford Racing.

"The team and its Fiesta ST programme have won four straight championships in Global Rallycross, as well as the 2014 FIA World Rallycross teams' title.

"They've got an excellent platform with a young and talented driver line-up. We're really looking forward to the 2015 season."
