DTM testing: Lucas Auer fastest on day two for Mercedes at Estoril

Showers hit the Portuguese circuit, limiting the morning running and then leaving teams to focus on pitstop practice during the final hour.

Formula 3 graduate Auer, who will race with DTM newcomer ART Grand Prix in 2015, set his time of 1m32.748s before lunch, and while he was slowest in the afternoon session, his morning time was enough to lead the combined timesheets.

Audi's Nico Muller topped the afternoon to be second overall, 0.049 seconds behind Auer's best, and Mike Rockenfeller ended the day third.

Having been Auer's closest challenger in the morning, 2013 champion Rockenfeller handed his RS5 over to Timo Scheider for the afternoon session, in which Audis occupied four of the top five positions.

Adrien Tambay completed the top five for Audi and Martin Tomczyk was the best of the BMWs in sixth, while 2014 champion Marco Wittmann was 11th.

Augusto Farfus was the day's busiest driver, logging 97 laps in his BMW on his way to 10th overall.
