Audi's Jamie Green tops first day of DTM pre-season test at Estoril
Jamie Green set the pace for Audi on the first day of official pre-season DTM testing at Estoril on Wednesday
The British driver's 1m32.774s late in the day moved him well clear of the rest of the pack, comfortably giving him top spot ahead of his team-mate (and morning pacesetter) Mike Rockenfeller.
Rockenfeller led the way throughout the morning running after posting his 1m33.173s early on.
While he was only fourth quickest in the afternoon, his morning time would only be bettered by Green, who described the day's running as "compromised" due to gusty winds.
Rockenfeller notched up the most laps over the course of the day (156), just edging out another Audi of Mattias Ekstrom for that honour.
That left Audi well clear of BMW and Mercedes in the lap count, with its four drivers amassing 563 laps compared to BMW's 490 and Mercedes' 356.
While Mercedes duo Paul di Resta and Pascal Wehrlein got among the Audis towards the top of the order, 2012 champion Bruno Spengler was the only BMW driver to get away from the bottom of the timesheets.
The marque that took the 2014 drivers' title with Marco Wittmann didn't have a driver in the top six in the morning session, while Spengler's 1m33.278s was good enough for third in the afternoon and sixth overall.
However, his team-mates Augusto Farfus, Martin Tomczyk and Maxime Martin ended the day occupying the bottom three places in the 12-car field.
