'Constructive' progress in Giedo van Garde/Sauber F1 team court row

The court case between Giedo van der Garde and the Sauber Formula 1 team has been adjourned until Saturday after "constructive discussions" between both parties in their legal battle

Van der Garde took the Swiss team to court after he claimed Sauber went back on a deal that had been agreed for him to race in 2015.

A Swiss court ruled in his favour and an Australian court this week upheld the claim and then rejected an appeal from Sauber.

Van der Garde then began new proceedings requesting that Sauber be found in contempt of court for not complying with the court order and that the team's assets be seized.

At the hearing on Friday, Sauber's lawyers requested more time because they were unable to get sufficient access to team manager Beat Zehnder while he was tied up with practice for the Australian Grand Prix.

After a short recess, both parties then made a joint request for an adjournment until Saturday at 0930 local time following "constructive discussions which are expected to continue this evening."

The judge agreed to the request and urged both parties to have "sensible" discussions and come to an agreement.

Sauber remained in the garage for the first practice session on Friday, but ran with Marcus Ericsson and Felipe Nasr in practice two.

Van der Garde had earlier appeared in the paddock in a set of Ericsson's Sauber overalls.
