Volkswagen tips Meeke, Kubica, Evans and Tanak for 2015 WRC wins

Volkswagen team principal Jost Capito has scotched suggestions that his squad will dominate the 2015 World Rally Championship, tipping Kris Meeke, Robert Kubica and M-Sport's drivers as potential winners

Despite VW scoring a one-two-three on last month's season opener in Monte Carlo, Capito remains adamant the opposition will be stronger this year, and that wins will be shared more widely courtesy of the change of running order regulations.

"Kris will be very strong," said Capito.

"He had his first full season last year and now he's on rallies for the second time and getting faster.

"Kubica is getting better and better as well; what he did on some [Monte Carlo] stages was simply unbelievable.

"And when you see Elfyn [Evans], his body language is completely different: he is confident and he is strong and [Ott] Tanak has the speed - these young guys make big steps.

"And with the change in [running order] regulations these guys can win rallies and I would not say they didn't deserve to win those rallies."

But M-Sport boss Malcolm Wilson doubts the VWs can be beaten across the spread of the season.

"They can't be beaten, not unless something happens," he argued.

"What they have is the right combination of cars and drivers, they've got real strength in depth in the squad, with pretty much every base covered.

"I'm being realistic here. Don't get me wrong, I'm not being defeatist and we'll be doing everything we can to beat them.

"But look at the [Monte Carlo] result, it looks very difficult [to beat them] on rallies this year."

Capito responded that VW's rivals had been quicker than the Monte result showed.

"I'm happy to hear what Malcolm says! But of course we can be beaten - in sport you can always be beaten," he said.

"It was a strong result for Volkswagen, but it was not domination right from the beginning; it wasn't one-two-three right from the start, the result came from the mistakes from the others.

"They say Volkswagen comes in and they are dominating like hell. We were not. The others did mistakes."
