Buenos Aires Formula E: Sebastien Buemi leads practice

Sebastien Buemi set the pace during the opening practice sessions for this weekend's Formula E round in Buenos Aires

The e.dams racer topped the times in the opening outing with a best lap of 1m09.475s around the 1.5-mile street circuit, and improved that to 1m08.933s later in the morning.

Nobody else managed to join the Swiss in the sub-1m09s bracket although Lucas di Grassi came closest on both occasions, finishing each session second-quickest and just over 0.3s down on Buemi's time.

Most of the drivers managed to navigate the quick layout without incident; the only real exception coming mid-way through the second session.

Daniel Abt had given himself a fight when he ran wide and brushed the outside wall, and the German was still making his way back to the pits when Stephane Sarrazin lost the rear of his Venturi car in the hard braking area at Turn 4 and snapped into the wall tail-first.

That accident prompted an immediate red flag, however the session was resumed with minimal delay.

Earlier in the morning, Nelson Piquet also prompted a brief stoppage when he outbraked himself and nosed into the wall. Initially the incident was covered under yellows, however that was switched to a red to allow for the barrier to be checked.
