Lewis Hamilton not afraid of losing 2014 F1 title to double points

Lewis Hamilton says he holds 'no fears' about the prospect of losing the 2014 Formula 1 world championship through double points

Despite having won 10 grands prix this year, compared to Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg's four victories, Hamilton could still lose the title because of the extra points on offer for the last race in Abu Dhabi.

But despite this situation, Hamilton made it clear ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix that he is not worried by the permutations of what can happen.

"I don't have any fears because I really feel that where I am today has not been lucky, it has not been by mistake," he said.

"There are reasons for being in this team, coming into the team at this time, there are reasons why we have the best car today, reasons why we have had these results this year, and that is all the hard work that has gone in.

"I feel I have utilised every experience or opportunity I have had this year, and recovered if I have not utilised it in qualifying - and so I feel comfortable where I am.

"I feel I have done everything I can and that is all you can do. These next two races I am going to do everything I can do, and whatever the result at the end of it is, that is the way it is.

"But I will know I will have done everything I could, and I will go into my winter knowing I did everything I did and not look back and say, 'if only I had done this or if I only I had done that'.

"That is a good feeling to have, so that is why I am excited to be here and excited to be in the car tomorrow."

DOUBLE POINTS 'ODD'

Hamilton has admitted, however, that he finds it strange that F1 has gone down the route of double points.

"It has always been in question this whole double points thing... but that is the way it is. I don't know what to say about it.

"It is the same for everyone, everyone has it. But no other championship we have had has it, so it is a bit odd this year.

"It is what it is, but whether they will keep it in the future, who knows?"
