New Hampshire NASCAR: Joey Logano wins crash-strewn race
Joey Logano came out on top in an incident-packed NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at New Hampshire, after a green-white-chequered finish and a season-high 14 caution periods
Logano restarted well all race, and made the most of a great jump from the outside line to propel his Penske Ford into a huge lead on the green-white-chequer restart.
Kyle Larson and early leader Kevin Harvick followed, after Larson stole second at the final green flag and held off a robust charge from Harvick.
Having been involved in multiple incidents, Jamie McMurray came home fourth ahead of Jimmie Johnson and Aric Almirola, who keeps his chances of advancing in the Chase alive after a nightmare round at Chicagoland last time out.
Behind Almirola was Brad Keselowski, who had one of the quickest cars in the race, but strategic variations and a spin saw him sink through the order.
He put himself back into contention towards the end, but didn't have the speed on the final restart to progress.
Jeff Gordon had been working his way through the top 10, only to cause one of the late cautions after he cut a right front tyre with nine laps to go. He was the last of many Chase drivers to suffer throughout the race.
Joe Gibbs Racing's title-contending trio Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch and last year's September New Hampshire winner Matt Kenseth all had incidents, although Busch rebounded from his crash to finish eighth.
Kurt Busch was another Chase driver in trouble, with a cut tyre sending him heavily into the wall. He was classified 36th, one place ahead of Hamlin, after repairs.
