Nico Rosberg concedes Lewis Hamilton has experience edge

Nico Rosberg admits that Lewis Hamilton's experience of title fights may assist his Mercedes team-mate - but does not believe it will decide the 2014 Formula 1 championship

The German holds a 22-point advantage over Hamilton with six races remaining, but suffered a blow at the Italian Grand Prix when he made a mistake under pressure.

With the intensity of the F1 title battle set to ramp up over the next few weeks, there have been suggestions that Hamilton's previous experience of championship contests could prove a huge help in coping with the situation.

Rosberg acknowledges it could be an advantage, but does not think it will be enough to swing the title away from him.

"It's not a concern for me," said Rosberg. "It might help him, yes, quite possibly having those experiences. But it's not something that I am concerned about.

"I'm focused on my own thing. He is a strong competitor, he has his strengths and weaknesses, but I concentrate on doing my job with my team and getting the most out of it."

Although Rosberg was deeply disappointed with the events of Monza, he says the challenge of gunning for the title is not proving overwhelming.

"At the moment, I am enjoying the moment more than I ever have in the sport because I get to a race and I have a car where I know I can be on pole and I can win," he said.

"That's such a special experience and also this confidence that every race we go to, we have this dominant car. That just increases the enjoyment factor even more.

"That's the overwhelming thing at the moment and, thankfully, my mind is just focused on the moment.

"Trying to win Monza was all I was thinking about: getting a good qualifying and a good start and everything. It didn't work out and now I look forward to Singapore.

"I'm going to go out there very optimistic and out there to win, not just to get some points."

HAMILTON'S PREVIOUS TITLE FIGHTS

2007: Loses out to Kimi Raikkonen by just one point in his rookie season in infamous three-way battle with Ferrari's Finn and his own McLaren team-mate Fernando Alonso.

2008: Beats Felipe Massa to the crown by a single point thanks to a last-lap, last-corner pass on Timo Glock in the Brazilian GP finale.

2010: Only has a long-shot chance in the four-way Abu Dhabi decider, where second place leaves him fourth in the standings behind Mark Webber, as Sebastian Vettel denies Alonso the crown.
