WRC Rally Australia: Sebastien Ogier snatches lead from Kris Meeke
Sebastien Ogier snatched the Rally Australia lead on the superspecial that ended Friday's action, with Kris Meeke falling back to fourth
Meeke had established himself in the lead through the afternoon's full-length stages, albeit under growing pressure from the Volkswagens of Ogier, Jari-Matti Latvala and Andreas Mikkelsen.
Citroen driver Meeke was then only eighth and ninth quickest on the two runs around the one-mile superspecial on Friday evening.
The VW trio swept the top three both times, with Ogier fastest on each run, meaning the reigning World Rally champion starts Saturday with a 0.4-second overall lead over Latvala.
The top four are covered by just 4.1s, with Mikkelsen third ahead of Meeke.
Although Meeke will not top the leaderboard overnight, Saturday running order was set after the final full-length stage, so he has earned the most favourable slot in the reversed start order for leg two.
Mikko Hirvonen lost a little ground to the VWs on the superspecial as well, but his M-Sport Ford remains within 7.9s of the lead in fifth.
Hayden Paddon, Mads Ostberg and Robert Kubica hold sixth to eighth places, with Thierry Neuville 10th after damaging his suspension on SS5.
