VW WRC chief Jost Capito denies rift with Sebastien Ogier

Volkswagen World Rally Championship team principal Jost Capito has denied there is a rift between him and lead driver Sebastien Ogier

Ogier is currently engaged in contract negotiations with the German team and is understood to be chasing a pay rise with his standing as world champion.

Relations between the pair have been strained through those negotiations - and through a difference of opinion on the running order regulations for next season - but Capito said they were back on track now.

Asked if he expected Ogier to be driving one of his cars next season, Capito told AUTOSPORT: "I think so.

"I think there is no reason for us to change anything and no reason for any of the three drivers to change anything.

"We are happy with them and they are happy with us. There is no reason why it shouldn't continue with all three."

Capito said he had met with Ogier during Rally Germany to discuss the 2015 season.

"When he came in on Friday night, we had a private talk together, just him and me for about half an hour," said Capito. "I think that shows how strong the relationship is."

Ogier's troubled Rally Germany weekend began with speculation over his and Capito's strained relationship, followed by two crashes, but Capito is convinced it was only a blip.

"Our relationship is stronger than ever and that's what he needs right now," said Capito.

"He needs to know that I believe in him right now and I absolutely do.

"And we will go through this together with him and I am convinced he will come back in Australia stronger than ever."

OGIER: MY MIND IS BACK ON THE JOB

Ogier admitted on Thursday that it had been a troubled summer, but said his focus was firmly back for Australia this weekend.

"It's nice to have a lot of success, but unfortunately there will always be some difficult moments which come along as well," said Ogier, who last won in Poland in June before being beaten by Jari-Matti Latvala in Finland and then crashing in Germany.

"I was not so strong this summer.

"I let myself be disturbed by things in the sport and this definitely made me weaker.

"I was not focused enough on what I have to do.

"But I worked on it and left it behind.

"I am concentrating on what is here now and you can count on me being back 100 per cent."
