F1 Italian GP: Lewis Hamilton says he will learn from Nico Rosberg

Lewis Hamilton says he will learn from Mercedes team-mate and Formula 1 title rival Nico Rosberg's Monza Friday findings after losing Italian Grand Prix practice time to electronics issues

Hamilton did not get on track until the final half-hour of practice two, and completed just 16 laps compared to Rosberg's 41 during the session.

Despite this, Hamilton managed to get within 0.061 seconds of his pacesetting team-mate as he took second place.

He said he plans to pick up what he can from Rosberg's data.

"I'll try to understand what Nico learned in his session and I'll try to learn that through data," said Hamilton.

"We have quite a similar driving style. There are a couple of differences but generally the overlays are fairly similar.

"There will be places he's found time today and set-up wise that I wasn't able to gain in that session.

"And the team generally works together. When one car moves forward so does the team."

Hamilton did not think losing the hour of Friday running would have too great an impact on his weekend chances.

"It's always difficult but I'm quite relaxed about it because it's not the first time I've been in this situation, so I feel I'm able to deal with it," he said.

"The guys did a good job to get the car out and working.

"I felt really good after the first session. I made a small change, went out, didn't have many laps but the car was very well set.

"Hopefully we'll get a chance tomorrow to work on some more things."
