Hayden, Petrucci cleared to ride in MotoGP practice at Barcelona

Recovering MotoGP riders Nicky Hayden and Danilo Petrucci have both been given medical clearance to ride in practice at Barcelona but will then have their fitness reassessed

Hayden withdrew from the last round at Mugello to undergo surgery on a long-standing wrist injury that had flared up again.

British rider Leon Camier - whose planned MotoGP ride with Ioda this year fell through before the season began - has been linked to stand-in duties at Hayden's Aspar team should the American have to pull out again after Friday morning practice.

Petrucci has been sidelined since sustaining an arm injury in a warm-up crash at Jerez in early May.

The Italian was initially replaced at Ioda by Luca Scassa, who then broke his leg in a test accident before he could make his MotoGP return.

When Petrucci unexpectedly failed to get through pre-race medical tests at Mugello a fortnight ago, Ioda called up World Superbike rider Michel Fabrizio for his first MotoGP start in five years.

AEGERTER TO MAKE MOTOGP TEST DEBUT

It was also announced at Barcelona on Thursday that Moto2 frontrunner Dominique Aegerter will test Avintia's MotoGP bike in the post-race sessions at the Spanish track next week.

Aegerter is currently fourth in the Moto2 standings in his fifth season in the intermediate category. The Avintia outing will be the 23-year-old Swiss rider's first taste of a MotoGP bike.

Avintia fields Open class FTR-Kawasakis for Hector Barbera and Mike di Meglio in MotoGP.
