Red Bull backs Antonio Felix da Costa in DTM

BMW has revealed that Red Bull will become part of its DTM programme following the manufacturer's deal with Antonio Felix da Costa for 2014

Da Costa was part of the Red Bull Junior team in 2012-13, narrowly missing out on a promotion to Formula 1 with Toro Rosso.

However, Red Bull has continued its relationship with the Portuguese racer, with its motorsport adviser Helmut Marko helping him land the BMW test late last year that led to his DTM deal.

Red Bull to continue supporting da Costa

At that point Red Bull had no involvement with BMW directly, but now the two have joined forces to aid da Costa's development as a DTM rookie.

BMW Motorsport director Jens Marquardt said: "We are looking forward to working closely with Red Bull.

"We have the opportunity to ensure that Antonio continues to develop quickly and to make him an even better racing driver.

"I think we will have a lot of fun following his development in the DTM."

Da Costa, who was already scheduled to work with Red Bull's F1 team during the season, added: "Representing BMW Motorsport and Red Bull is something special, and I could not wish for a better combination.

"Red Bull has enjoyed the greatest possible success in recent years and I really feel part of this family.

"I am very pleased to keep the Red Bull colours for this year, and am delighted to be able to count on its continued support in the DTM."

Red Bull colours have been raced by Audi in the DTM since 2002, when Mattias Ekstrom and Karl Wendlinger's cars were backed by the firm.
