Leading Audi trio seeks to seal title in Shanghai WEC round

World Endurance Championship leaders Allan McNish, Tom Kristensen and Loic Duval are looking to seal the title in style with victory for Audi in this weekend's Shanghai round of the series

The trio, who need only a fourth-place finish to secure the crown in the race on Saturday, insist that they will not be playing the percentages as they defend a 40.75-point lead over Audi team-mates Andre Lotterer, Benoit Treluyer and Marcel Fassler at the penultimate WEC round in China.

McNish, who is bidding to become the first Briton to win the world sportscar title since Mark Blundell in 1992, said: "I'm not interested in any title permutations - my focus remains as it always is, to win the race."

Duval added: "Our goal is to win the race for Audi. Last year, we didn't win here, and Asia is an important market for Audi.

"We will keep going as we have done throughout the season, which is trying to win races.

"That is not to say that we aren't thinking about the championship, but if we win the race there is no question about the title."

Only the two Audi crews can now win the 2013 WEC.

The best-placed Toyota line-up of Anthony Davidson, Stephane Sarrazin and Sebastien Buemi lie 65.75 points off the lead with only 52 points up for grabs in China and the season finale in Bahrain later this month.
