Felipe Massa says he has "good opportunities" for 2014 F1 seat
Felipe Massa says he has found good opportunities for a 2014 Formula 1 drive as he works to secure his future after being dropped by Ferrari
After spending his entire F1 career so far within the Ferrari fold, first as a protege and test driver placed at Sauber, then as a works team racer since 2006, Massa is now hunting for a new employer following the decision to replace him with Kimi Raikkonen.
OPINION: Don't forget how good Massa was
Although Massa said he would not talk at length about his future until a deal was sorted, he admitted he was optimistic.
"I am still concentrating on the last races [of 2013] but I am talking with a few teams," he said.
"I think the right time to speak about that is when you know where you are going.
"There are some good opportunities.
"I think I am quite optimistic that we will find a good solution.
"I want a car that can give me some good possibilities to fight. If I don't have that, I am not interested."
Massa added that he was still determined to end his Ferrari stint in style.
"I feel comfortable inside the car," he said. "It's important to try to get some podiums and better results than up until now.
"Qualifying is going well, so let's try to do everything we can to get good results in the last six races after a long and nice time together."
