Nurburgring British F3: Jordan King fends off Will Buller in finale

Jordan King produced a champion's performance to win the final race of the British Formula 3 weekend at the Nurburgring

King, who wrapped up the title in the second race of the weekend, kept Will Buller at bay throughout the 17 laps.

"It couldn't have been much more perfect," said the Carlin Dallara-Volkswagen racer. "I don't think I made even one mistake, and I reckon an F3 car has never got off the line at the start as quickly as that!

"Will was always close so I could never really relax; I had to keep the momentum up all the time."

The top two were in a class of their own, while Antonio Giovinazzi fended off Nicholas Latifi throughout for third.

That result means the Italian pips Buller to the championship runner-up spot by one point; fastest lap for the Northern Irishman - which he missed out on to King by just a tenth of a second - would have swung things his way.

While it was processional at the front, there was great action behind. Felipe Guimaraes made contact with Jann Mardenborough at Turn 2 on the opening lap, with both drivers spinning.

Tatiana Calderon moved up to fifth, but Sean Gelael chiselled an opening and the chasing group followed him past the Colombian.

Then Gelael was taken out by Spike Goddard at Turn 1, an incident for which the Australian earned a drive-through penalty. Gelael was forced to pit for a new right-rear tyre.

All that left Mexican F3 debutant Alfonso Celis in fifth place, and the 17-year-old did a sound job to fend off the recovering Mardenborough and Guimaraes in the closing laps.

In the National Class, it was an easy win for class champion Sun Zheng.
