Silverstone MotoGP: Cal Crutchlow sure crashes won't hamper race

Cal Crutchlow insists his brace of heavy Saturday morning crashes will not affect him heading into his home MotoGP race at Silverstone

The Briton crashed at 293km/h on his first flyer in third practice, and after getting medical clearance to return then ended his session in the gravel, having been bucked over the handlebars of his Tech 3 Yamaha under braking for Brooklands.

While the impacts have left him with a swollen right arm and several skin abrasions, Crutchlow says the fact he went on to secure a front-row start is proof there are no lingering mental or physical hangovers from the two incidents.

"To crash twice in one session is stupid - both my own mistakes - but tomorrow should be a good day," he said.

"It will be difficult for sure, but I'm really glad to [have] secured the front row and bounced back from the crashes quite well.

"There is no reason why we shouldn't be able to be up there and battle - it's going to be tough with the front two, but I'll give it a go."

Crutchlow, who also crashed heavily at Silverstone in his rookie 2011 campaign and again last year - when he broke his ankle, but rode from the back of the grid to secure sixth - said racing despite his injuries was nothing remarkable.

"I've got confidence in abundance," he said. "Don't get me wrong, I was annoyed and angry at myself for such stupid, stupid mistakes, but it's what we do.

"Look at what Jorge [Lorenzo] did at Assen to come back. I don't see it as anything special.

"I'll see how my physical condition is in the morning, because apart from my pride being hurt a little I have big swelling to my right arm and abrasions.

"This is just a normal Saturday at Silverstone - except I made qualifying this year."
