BTCC Chevy squad IP Tech to test Renault Clio racer Mike Bushell
New British Touring Car squad IP Tech Race Engineering will give Mike Bushell his first test in an NGTC car next week
Andy Neate's team made its BTCC debut at Snetterton earlier this month. It will now give Bushell, a frontrunner in the Renault Clio Cup, a drive in its Chevrolet Cruze at Snetterton.
Bushell started the Clio season with Westbourne Motorsport before moving to Scuderia Vittoria as a KX Akademy member for three rounds, mentored by BTCC star Jason Plato.
"It's like all my birthdays coming at one," Bushell told AUTOSPORT. "I never thought I'd get to this stage.
"I have to thank Westbourne for the results at the start of the year and the KX Akademy for upping my profile."
Bushell is targeting a BTCC race seat for the future.
"Andy got in touch to see what I'm made of and we're going to try and get me out [to race], whether it's next year or the year after," he added.
"It's my goal to be on the touring car grid."
Neate confirmed that a race deal has not yet been done but told AUTOSPORT: "I'm delighted. We're looking at running two cars next year and we want to put someone in the car who will do the team justice.
"Mike's been successful in Clios and this could raise his profile and help with sponsors."
Neate will also drive at the Snetterton test, in which Bushell will attempt some race simulations.
