Kurt Busch: 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase possible despite no wins
Kurt Busch remains confident he can make the NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase this season despite not having won a race yet
The Furniture Row driver is currently in 13th position in the standings with five races remaining before this year's Chase is set.
The top 10 drivers in the standings, plus the two drivers with the highest number of wins from 11th to 20th in the points, will qualify for the cut-off.
Busch, just 11 points behind 10th-placed Greg Biffle, believes the fight for the Chase will be extremely tight.
"The top seven guys, I would say, are locked in," said the 2004 champion.
"[Kasey] Kahne probably moved himself into a pretty good spot with two wins now, but there is still a lot of see-saw going on with guys.
"[We have Greg] Biffle with one win, [Tony] Stewart with a win, [Martin] Truex with one win, and me and Jeff [Gordon] are winless, but here we are finishing second and third [at Pocono], so it's tight."
Busch, who last made the Chase in 2011 while racing with Penske, believes he will be strong enough to qualify this year if he manages to be consistent with his results.
"I feel like we've been fast every week when we unload and practice, and we qualify well and we start the race decent. We're just not closing the door," he said.
"The only way we're going to make the Chase is to fix that weak area.
"What I'm happy about is this group of guys, we're small, but we can shoot from the hip a lot and make up a lot of ground by being aggressive with going back to a track a second time knowing exactly what we did wrong the first time around."
