Tomczyk, Farfus to double up during Brands Hatch DTM weekend

BMW drivers Martin Tomczyk and Augusto Farfus will take part in the Brands Hatch DTM round and the Nurburgring 24 Hours over the same weekend this year

The pair have been named as part of the factory-supported Schubert Motorsport line-up for the May 19-20 event and will drive Z4 GT3s run by the German squad.

Tomczyk will share one car with long-time BMW sportscar drivers Claudia Hurtgen and Dirk Adorf as well as Jens Klingmann.

Brazilian driver Farfus will drive the other machine with Dirk and Jorg Muller and Uwe Alzen.

A BMW spokesperson confirmed to AUTOSPORT that neither driver will take part in practice or qualifying for the Nurburgring race, but will be eligible to compete because they have each already taken part in a VLN race at the Nordschleife this year.

Both will practice and qualify at Brands Hatch on the Saturday and race on the Sunday, before being taken back to Germany in a shuttle arranged jointly by DTM promoter the ITR and German motorsport federation the DMSB.

Once at the Nurburgring, they will be available for driving duties for the remainder of the race, which unusually takes place over Sunday-Monday this year.

BMW holds the record for wins at the Nurburgring 24 Hours, with a total of 19 since the race's inception in 1970.
