Jerez MotoGP test: Alvaro Bautista may miss final day with injury

Alvaro Bautista may miss the final day of MotoGP pre-season testing at Jerez on Monday after sustaining knee and finger injuries in a Sunday crash

The Spaniard fell at the Sito Pons corner on day two of the last winter test, crashing into the air fence at speed.

Bautista was diagnosed with two fractured fingers and a knee strain, and must obtain medical clearance before returning to the track in the morning.

"Unfortunately I ended up with fractures to two of my fingers and a knee strain which has put the final day of the test in doubt," he said.

"We will let the Clinica Mobile doctors assess my condition in the morning and take it from there."

Prior the incident, Bautista felt he had been enjoying one of his best tests of the winter and was making good progress with suspension settings.

"We didn't need the crash because we were having a good day and getting a lot of work done together with Showa," said Bautista, who still held on to sixth in the results.

"The latest updates were working well but we didn't get to finish the programme we had planned.

"It's a shame but the only consolation is that we would have had to stop shortly afterwards anyway because of the rain."
