Canaries ERC: Jan Kopecky seals victory after Robert Kubica's crash
Jan Kopecky wrapped up his second victory of the European Rally Championship season in the Canary Islands after Robert Kubica's Saturday crash
Kubica had been over a minute clear of the field on his ERC debut before sliding into a crash barrier and damaging his Citroen on stage 10.
That left Kopecky clear to cruise through the final loop of stages and win the event for the third time.
The Skoda driver had been in a close battle with Craig Breen on Friday, but had pulled ahead by the end of the day and was therefore unchallenged once Kubica was out.
Breen ultimately finished 1m52.4s adrift.
Luis Monzon, the event's promoter, repeated his 2012 third place. He had been delayed by a puncture on Friday before benefiting when the same happened to Breen's Sainteloc Peugeot team-mate Jeremi Ancian.
Andreas Aigner and Gorka Antxustegi won the Production and 2WD classes respectively.
