Ma Qing Hua to make GP2 debut with Caterham at Jerez
Former HRT Formula 1 driver Ma Qing Hua will make his debut in a contemporary GP2 car when he tests for Caterham at Jerez this week
The Chinese driver joined the now-defunct F1 squad as its reserve driver for 2012, and drove the car during some practice sessions in the latter part of the season.
What is the point of the FIA Super Licence?
The 24-year-old will join Caterham at Jerez in the test that kicks off tomorrow.
"I am looking forward to testing with Caterham Racing in Jerez next week," he said.
"This will be my first time in a GP2 car and it is a great opportunity for me to learn the car and work with such a professional team."
Ma will be joined at the team by Spaniard Sergio Canamasas, who competed in GP2 last year, taking part in the final 10 races of the season with Lazarus.
"I am very happy to test with Caterham Racing in Jerez and I am looking forward to it," he said. "My target will be to develop the car and to show good performance.
"We are going to put everything in to the test and I feel sure that the preparation I have done over the last three months will show."
Rival team Lazarus will test Kevin Giovesi alongside the already-signed Rene Binder while series newcomer Hilmer Motorsport will run former German F3 champion Tom Dillmann and Auto GP runner-up Pal Varhaug.
