Tech 1 has faith Mikhail Aleshin can deliver 'great' FR3.5 season

Tech 1 Racing has faith that Mikhail Aleshin can deliver a 'great season' in 2013 despite a disappointing campaign in Formula Renault 3.5 last year

The 25-year-old Russian won the FR3.5 title in 2010, but after a disjointed 2011 his return to the series was lacklustre and he finished down in 13th position with Team RFR.

His new team Tech 1 is convinced the Russian is set for a strong season in 2013.

"Mikhail's just been through a frustrating year with a team that had a lot to learn," said team boss Simon Abadie.

"Even so he managed to point them in the right direction to the extent that he set pole and finished second in the last race.

"We know that we've stacked the odds in our favour to enjoy a great season together."

Aleshin took the 2010 title after beating then Tech 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo in the final race of the season.

Abadie reckons the qualities that robbed Tech 1 the championship three years ago make the Russian an asset for the team.

"We've known Mikhail since 2006. He's a very quick guy who's often provided tough opposition to our drivers," he added.

"And we found out to our cost that he never gives anything away."
