Auto GP reveals further tweaks to 2013 single-seater

Auto GP has revealed further tweaks to its already heavily revised 2013 car

Auto GP has revealed further aero tweaks to its already heavily revised 2013 car.

The latest evolution, the product of a collaboration between series organiser Enzo Coloni and former Ferrari and Williams designer Enrique Scalabroni, is expected to bring further increases in performance.

The original revisions, revealed exclusively by AUTOSPORT in August, resulted in circa 1.5s lap-time improvements when 2012 champion Adrian Quaife-Hobbs tested at Barcelona in December.

Auto GP predict an additional 0.5s has been extracted from the new model through aerodynamic refinements, bringing performance in line with GP2 and Formula Renault 3.5.

"We increased the downforce and also worked to increase the top speed," said Enzo Coloni.

"This is an innovative product that resembles, in many aspects, solutions currently used in Formula 1. We [also] worked on its appearance and made sure it was good-looking.

"With highly-competitive costs, we are providing our teams and drivers with a car that can match the performance level of much more expensive series like the GP2 and Formula Renault 3.5."

Former BCN team owner Scalabroni was involved with Coloni in creating the successful Formula Nissan series in the 1990s.

"I gave [Coloni] my advice and we developed some new solutions [for] 2013," Scalabroni explained.

"It's not the first time, we previously developed the Formula Nissan together and it became a benchmark for its era. I hope it will be a good omen for the new era of Auto GP."
