Daytona 24 Hours: Scott Pruett leads all-Ganassi front row

Chip Ganassi Racing blocked out the front row for this weekend's Daytona 24 Hours

Multiple Grand-Am champion Scott Pruett claimed pole position in the lead Ganassi Riley-BMW MkXXVI on a time of 1m40.553s, which put him just over a tenth clear of team-mate Scott Dixon in the squad's second Daytona Prototype.

Pruett, who is seeking a record-equalling fifth Daytona victory, said: "It's exciting for us to be one-two up front. It was right on the edge, but thankfully we managed to hang on."

Third fastest was Dane Cameron in the Team Sahlen Riley-BMW on a 1m41.213s, ahead of Michael Valiante in the fastest of the two Ford-engined Rileys entered by the 2012 Daytona-winning Michael Shank Racing team.

The top Chevrolet-engined Coyote ended up in fifth position in the hands of Spirit of Daytona driver Richard Westbrook.

Britain's Nick Tandy took qualifying honours in his first race as a Porsche factory driver.

His time of 1m47.631s aboard the Konrad Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 Cup put him two tenths clear of second-placed Andy Lally in the similar Magnus Racing car.
