Pons Racing has reconfirmed Swiss driver Zoel Amberg will stay with the team for a second season of Formula Renault 3.5 in 2013.
The 20-year-old originally joined the team on a two-year deal back at the end of 2011.
He finished 26th in his debut season, his solitary point arriving in the Motorland season opener.
He has run well in the recent winter tests, finishing seventh fastest on the final day at Aragon - form which team manager Emilio de Villota feels bodes well for the 2013 campaign.
"We are extremely pleased with what the team has shown during these winter tests. It proves that we are off to a new course, after laying the ground during the last season, and we feel very encouraged by the results in view of 2013," de Villota said.
"Zoel has done a tremendous job and this has paid off, as proven by the
"[He] has had a fast pace at every outing, has shown consistency and a methodical working approach.
"We are delighted that he will continue with us in 2013 and I am sure that all the hard work done will materialise next year."
De Villota added he hoped the team will be in a position to announce its second driver shortly, and that one of the drivers who tested during the winter would most likely be recruited.
2012 Formula 2 champion Luciano Bacheta, race winner Nick Yelloly, Matheo Tuscher and Dimitry Suranovich have all run with the team during the post-season.
"All of the drivers we have been testing have showed good potential, and I think it is fair to say that our other driver for 2013 is among them," de Villota said.
"There are on-going talks at the moment and we hope to be in a position to make an announcement in due course."
