Marc Marquez accepts Honda decision to postpone his MotoGP debut

Marc Marquez accepted Honda's decision to postpone the first test of his MotoGP career until conditions improve at Valencia

The Moto2 champion was scheduled to make his debut as Casey Stoner's replacement in the factory Honda line-up during the first day of post-season testing at the Spanish track on Tuesday.

But amid rain and cold conditions, Honda chose not to run at all, and will instead hope for better weather on Wednesday.

"I have this fantastic bike here but unfortunately the weather isn't very good," said Marquez.

"It's better to be patient and wait as it's important to test the bike in the best conditions possible.

"I'm really excited to get started but we agree that it's best to test the bike in the dry for the first time. I just hope the weather will improve tomorrow."

The Spaniard, who rounded off his Moto2 career by coming from last to victory in Sunday's season finale, said he had still tried to learn as much as possible while waiting for his track debut.

"I spent some time with the team this morning and I learnt many things but I still have a lot to learn," Marquez said.

"I know the power will be very different and also the electronic controls, also the carbon brakes and tyres will be something I need to adapt to, but step by step we will learn."
