Abu Dhabi GP: Ferrari breaks curfew for second night running

The team is attempting to improve the performance of its F2012 car in time for Abu Dhabi Grand Prix qualifying, and has introduced a series of updates for this weekend.

For the second night in a row, team personnel were working at the track during the curfew hours.

A statement issued by F1 technical delegate Jo Bauer said that Ferrari personnel associated with the working of the car were within the confines of the circuit during the curfew hours of 5am and 11am.

Ferrari sporting director Massimo Rivola had said on Friday night that the early indications from practice suggested that the team was in good shape on race pace, but needed to push hard to extract all the performance it could for qualifying.

"I think there is still a long night for our engineers to set up the car properly," he told the official Ferrari website.

"Not everything was right because when you start doing some changes on the car and you test something new you need to spend more time aero testing, rather than proper set-up.

"So we are confident on Saturday to close the gap and I am very confident for the race.

"Can we win? This is not what it seems today but there is reliability, which is an important factor and we will see."

"We are just flat out and pushing. We are very, very determined, starting from Fernando who does not want to lose the championship. We are with him and very united on that."
