Jules Bianchi 'ready for Formula 1' despite FR3.5 title loss

Jules Bianchi is ready to graduate to Formula 1, according to his Formula Renault 3.5 team Tech 1 Racing

The Ferrari junior driver missed out on the FR3.5 title after a collision with eventual champion Robin Frijns in the final round last Sunday.

But Tech 1 team boss Simon Abadie believes that coming up short in the title race should not prevent Bianchi from getting a chance in F1.

"Jules is ready for F1," he said. "He's charismatic, someone who unites people behind him, and of course, he's very quick.

"He must be given his chance at the top level of motor racing, there are no two ways about it.

"Working with Jules this season has been an honour for the whole team. He's a great driver who has left his mark on the history of Tech 1 Racing like Daniel Ricciardo, Charles Pic, Jean-Eric Vergne and Alvaro Parente."

Bianchi told AUTOSPORT that he hopes the controversial end to the FR3.5 championship fight will not affect his chances of landing an F1 drive next year.

"I worked all season with my team, and with Ferrari, to try to win the title," he said.

"We were so close to doing that. So I hope it won't change anything about my future.

"I guess it won't, because I showed people what I am capable of. To miss the title by four points is not a big difference.

"We were fighting until the end, and this is positive. If we were second but 40 points behind the champion, then it would have been different."
