Paul di Resta disappointed to miss out on a top drive for 2013

The Scot looks set to stay at Force India for another year, despite his name having been linked with teams like McLaren before the British squad announced Sergio Perez as Lewis Hamilton's replacement.

Di Resta concedes he was hoping to drive for a team with which he would be able to fight for race wins, but insisted he saw the positives of staying at Force India.

"It's always a disappointment," said di Resta on Thursday. "Obviously I want to be in a car that's winning races and winning championships, but for whatever reason it has not happened.

"But you have to continue where you are. This team is obviously still growing and you can be a part of something that keeps growing and hopefully be successful."

The Force India driver, whose team-mate Nico Hulkenberg looks set to leave to drive for Sauber next year, is convinced he is ready for a top seat.

"I definitely feel ready for it," he said. "You get to the point where you want to be on the podium and you want to be winning races, because it's during your career coming through you've been on the podium and winning races.

"I think I have still got time, I'm 26," the Scot added.

Di Resta said he was not worried about the financial problems involving his team boss Vijay Mallya, but refused to comment on the situation.

"It's not something I need to comment on. It's none of my business. I'm employed to race a car and that's what I'm going to do," he said.
