Hockenheim DTM: Augusto Farfus looking to avoid DTM title scrap

The Brazilian took his second successive pole position in qualifying, outpacing Mercedes driver Paffett by 0.121s and his own BMW stablemate Spengler by just 0.006s more.

The RBM BMW driver wants a repeat of his and intends to leave the battle for the championship behind him.

"The last thing I want to do is get in with Bruno and Gary. They're not looking for the race win; they want the big trophy," said the Brazilian.

"I just want to do my own race. What would be perfect is to get a clean start and just disappear.

"Then we'll see who has the best car and the best package and hopefully get the job done."

Farfus said that the Hockenheim result meant more to him than his .

"At Valencia we had a very fast car right from the start of Friday," he added. "We knew we would have strong pace all through the weekend.

"Here we were not so fast in the first place, so we've had to work very hard to get the car better.

"I thought that a top five result today would be good. I didn't expect pole position. I'm very happy we got it though."
