Di Resta uncertain on F1 future, following Ferrari rumous

The Force India driver has enjoyed a strong second season in grand prix racing and was linked with seats at McLaren and Ferrari.

The British squad has signed Sergio Perez to replace Lewis Hamilton, but the Italian team is yet to announce who will partner Fernando Alonso from next year.

Di Resta said on Thursday at Suzuka that nothing has been sorted for 2013, but he remains optimistic things are progressing well.

When asked whether he had any firm plans for next year, di Resta said "Nothing at the moment. Our team policy is to not talk about driver contracts and there is not much more I can say.

"Things have progressed quite a bit since Singapore and I am sure reactions from that will be sorted soon."

The Briton, who scored his best F1 result in Singapore with fourth-placed finish, did not rule out joining Ferrari for a single season if he is given the chance.

There is speculation the Maranello squad is looking to sign a driver for a single season with a view to hiring Sebastian Vettel from 2014.

"I've always said coming through my career and into F1 that the important thing is winning races and championship, and whenever the opportunity is given that is the position I want to be in," di Resta said.

"With Force India my mentality is different and results like Singapore are big, that is the situation we are in. I have six races now to do a job under the contract I am in."
