Valencia F3 Euro Series: Felix Rosenqvist makes amends with win

Felix Rosenqvist made amends for his Saturday errors by winning the third and final Formula 3 Euro Series race of the weekend at Valencia

The 20-year-old Swede outdragged polesitter Daniel Juncadella down to the first corner at the start and was never challenged.

The Mucke Motorsport driver took his second win of the year by over five seconds.

Juncadella's second place increased the Prema Powerteam driver's leads in the Euro Series and FIA European F3 Championship to 35 and 30.5 points respectively, with only 60 and 50 left up for grabs at the Hockenheim finale next month.

The Spaniard's team-mate Raffaele Marciello, who holds second in the FIA standings, completed the podium with Mucke's Pascal Wehrlein - Juncadella's closest rival for the Euro Series - fourth.

Carlos Sainz Jr held fifth for the opening part of the race, but was brilliantly overtaken by Tom Blomqvist into Turn 1 on lap 11. Blomqvist's Ma-con team-mate Emil Bernstorff then closed in on the Carlin driver, but could not make it by.

Race two winner Michael Lewis passed Will Buller for eighth spot at mid-distance, but not before Buller had three times rebuffed moves at Turn 1 by driving out onto the extensive asphalt run-off area at the exit of the corner.

Buller's result means that he now has only a slim mathematical chance of winning the title at Hockenheim, 55.5 in arrears of Juncadella.

Sven Muller's race was ruined when he stalled at the start along with Lucas Wolf. The Prema driver was able to lap at the pace of the leaders when in clear air, but was given a drive-through penalty for exceeding track limits later on.

Angolan Luis Sa Silva received a drive-through for the same reason, and was then given another for speeding in the pitlane while serving his initial penalty.
