Markus Pommer triumphs in Paul Ricard Formula 2 race two

Markus Pommer secured a lights to flag victory in the second Formula 2 race of the weekend at Paul Ricard

Despite a lot of wheelspin off the line, Pommer defended vigorously into the first chicane from Matheo Tuscher and quickly built up a cushion of over one second. From there on, he commanded the race, gently edging away to win by 1.222s.

Kevin Mirocha initially beat Christopher Zanella away, but Zanella hunted down the Polish driver and retook the position midway through the race, cruising home to complete the podium.

Mirocha had Luciano Bacheta for company in the closing stages of the race, but Bacheta was never close enough to seriously attempt an overtake.

Dino Zamparelli made a poor start, dropping from his fifth place grid slot down to seventh. He chased down Marinescu, forcing him into a mistake at Turn 1, which ultimately saw him pass the Romanian into Turn 8.

Dan McKenzie struggled to make up positions after a poor qualifying performance, ending the race in eighth ahead of Plamen Kralev - who picked up his best ever F2 result with ninth. Axcil Jefferies progressed well to complete the top 10.
