Stefan Bradl eager to maintain improved form after best MotoGP qualifying result yet

LCR Honda rider Stefan Bradl says his breakthrough fourth place on the Assen MotoGP grid shows his real potential for the first time

The reigning Moto2 champion was only beaten by the works Hondas and championship leader Jorge Lorenzo's Yamaha in Dutch TT qualifying.

Bradl admitted the result came as a surprise, and wants to make sure he can now maintain this form in the longer-term.

"Finally we put things together and we had a very good qualifying, a very good lap time and a very good placement on the starting grid for tomorrow," said Bradl.

"I was not expecting this result because yesterday we were struggling a lot but we remained concentrated. Basically we did not give up and the great result finally arrived and the team demonstrated a strong character.

"We have found a good balance for the bike using a perfect strategy and it was not easy because the weather was pretty unstable.

"This is our real potential and now I must learn to repeat this in the future."

The upturn in performance by Bradl comes just a week before his first home MotoGP race at the Sachsenring in Germany. His best result of his MotoGP rookie season so far is fifth in the wet French Grand Prix.
