Luciano Bacheta gets win as Spa Formula 2 race two washed out early

Luciano Bacheta was awarded victory at Spa, as rain washed out the second Formula 2 race of the weekend after three laps

As rain soaked the circuit, the race began behind the safety car. The period was brief, with racing getting underway properly at the start of the second lap. Bacheta immediately pulled clear of nearest rival Markus Pommer and the rest of the field, while Alex Fontana slipped backwards from his third position grid slot.

Daniel McKenzie crashed out at La Source after aquaplaning down the straight which brought out the safety car once more. Just as the race director was going to bring out the red flag because of the conditions, Christopher Zanella collided with the back of Kevin Mirocha, eliminating them both from the race. However, once the race was permanently abandoned, countback reinstated the two drivers in third and fourth.

Alex Fontana finished in fifth position ahead of Vittorio Ghirelli. Axcil Jefferies picked up his best finish of the season in sixth ahead of the recovering Matheo Tuscher. Despite being another pair to collide under the safety car, Hector Hurst and Dino Zamparelli finished ninth and 10th.
