Jason Plato fastest in second BTCC practice at Croft

Jason Plato led the way by nearly half a second in the second British Touring Car Championship free practice session at Croft

Although the former champion was not entirely happy with his MG, he was still able to put in a 1m24.817s lap, 0.485 seconds up on second-placed Gordon Shedden's Honda.

Three of the top five were in Hondas, with the second works example of Matt Neal in fourth and Eurotech's morning pacesetter Andrew Jordan fifth. Rob Collard's WSR BMW split them in third.

Mat Jackson was the best of the Motorbase Fords in sixth, followed by strong runs from Speedworks Toyota's Adam Morgan in seventh and Jackson's team-mate Aron Smith in eighth.

Next up were Frank Wrathall's Dynojet Toyota and Jordan's team-mate Jeff Smith, who escaped a few trips off the road. Third Motorbase driver Liam Griffin and ES Vauxhall man Dave Newsham also had spins.

Returnee Paul O'Neill did not set a time, his Speedworks Toyota switching into 'limp mode' as it had in opening practice.
