Martin Brundle says he feels 'back in the groove' on Le Mans return

Martin Brundle says he feels back 'in the groove' after the first day's practice for the 2012 Le Mans 24 Hours with the Greaves Motorsport squad.
The 1990 winner is sharing an LMP2 Nissan-powered Zytek with his son Alex and Lucas Ordonez, and set the car's fastest time in free practice - a 3m41.426s – on Wednesday.
And while the Sky Formula 1 commentator admitted it took some time to find his rhythm in traffic after 11 years away from La Sarthe, even after the test day, he says he feels confident he is on top of his game now.
"You don't forget how to drive them," Brundle told AUTOSPORT. "I'd never driven the car in this trim until practice and in the first few laps everything happened very quickly! Indianapolis was fast...
"But I just felt a bit rusty. That soon went and by tonight I know I will be fully in the groove.
"I know that when it comes to race time, and I'm into a rhythm in a stint it will all come back. You don't lose any of that and I'm already enjoying it."
Both Brundles have stated their aim is to qualify the car in the top six in class, but insisted their focus was very much on the race.
"We've put the race gear in now so tonight is about making sure it all runs smoothly," said Martin. "There is no point in finding out on Saturday morning that there is something wrong with the installation.
"No one wants to be 11th in class, and we'll give it a go, but it's all about the race for us and it's obviously important to secure reliability."
Alex Brundle reckons the Greaves machine is capable of a mid 3m40s lap, based on his telemetry, which would have put the car fifth fastest in first qualifying, but said that neither he or his dad had enjoyed a clear lap so far.
"Ultimately that's our pace," said the GP3 regular. "We know there is time in the car, but we are building up to the race. Qualifying is not our focus, and we are still learning more about the tyres – we're happy with our soft tyres, but we want to find out more about the super-softs at night."
