Red Bull Racing started and ended the weekend on top at Suzuka, with Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber bringing home a maximum haul of points.
Team boss Christian Horner is beaming with pride as the team celebrates, while Alonso keeps himself in the fight the championship honours and McLaren's challenge begins to unravel.

Vettel's win puts him right with Alonso in the title chase but Webber's strong second place helps extend his advantage at the top of the order. Despite flashes of speed, it hasn't been a great weekend for McLaren and it has fallen 45 points behind Red Bull in the constructors' battle.

Seven drivers retired from the Japanese Grand Prix:
Adrian Sutil went out with an engine failure while running just outside the points.
Robert Kubica retired from second place during the safety car period when the right rear wheel mysteriously came off his Renault.
Massa and Liuzzi tangled at the first corner when the Brazilian lost control on the grass at Turn 1.
Petrov and Hulkenberg clashed at the start when the Williams driver was slow off the grid and he was clipped at speed by the Russian.
Lucas di Grassi didn;t even make it as far as the starting grid - having crashed heavily at the 130R on his lap to the dummy grid when the pits opened.

The champagne sprays on the podium at the end of an interesting Japanese Grand Prix and the Red Bull drivers give Adrian Newey a thoroughly deserved soaking after a great result for the team.
Alonso collects the award for another podium finish, his eighth of the season, which keeps him right in the title hunt.

The drivers walk out onto the podium and the Japanese fans sound the airhorns, as the German anthem plays for Vettel.
Hamilton is now down to fourth in the standings, 28 points adrift, with Button a further three markers back in fifth.
Webber now leads the title race by a useful 14 points over a tie between Vettel and Alonso.
Bruno Senna was 15th with Yamamoto 16th and Rosberg classified in 17th position after that big accident with a few laps to go.
Glock was 14th and managed to halve a 60-second gap to Trulli - once Yamamoto was out of his way.
Out of the points, Alguersuari finished 11th with Kovalainen 12th for Lotus, ahead of team-mate Jarno Trulli.
Nick Heidfeld was eighth on a good day for Sauber, with Barrichello ninth and Buemi taking the final point for Toro Rosso.
Michael Schumacher crosses the line in sixth position and the crowd cheers Kobayashi home in a fine seventh at home.

Button takes home solid points for fourth, with Hamilton sure to be disappointed as he tours in fifth with a problematic gearbox.
Webber grabbed fastest lap from his team mate on the final tour.

It has been a flawless drive from the young German with pole and the race win, along with 25 vital points.

Lap 54: The Red Bull driver comes into the chicane for the final time with team-mate Webber behind him.

Lap 52: Replays showed an apparent failure at the rear of Rosberg's car, pitching him off into the barriers at high speed.
Lap 51: Recovery is finally complete on Rosberg's Mercedes from the gravel trap at Dunlop.

Lap 49: Kobayashi's move on Alguersuari was really clever. Suspecting that the Japanese driver would send a move up the inside at the hairpin, Alguersuari move the left to protect the inside.

Lap 48: Alguersuari has rejoins after that stop in the pits and now runs in 12th position behind team-mate Buemi.
Lap 48: Button sets the fastest lap on his reasonably fresh soft tyres but is 12 seconds behind Alonso and looks set for fourth.
