After so many disappointments throughout 2009, today everything finally went right for Rubens Barrichello.
The Brazilian started from third place with a car and fuel load to keep the McLarens in sight, and when the time came he pushed hard in clean air to maintain the pressure. It looked like Hamilton had the pace to win, but a disastrous final pitstop cost Lewis badly and Rubens gratefully received the benefit and brought the BGP 001 home to claim a wonderful win.
On the other side of the garage, Jenson Button salvaged two points after another disappointing outing and thanks to a horrible afternoon for Red Bull Racing, maintains a healthy points lead as we say farewell to Valencia and head to Spa for the next round.

Keeping the pressure on McLaren throughout, Barrichello's heavier fuel and quick pace when it mattered jumped him by Kovalainen at the first stop and into the lead as McLaren fumbled Hamilton's second stop.
It is Rubens' 10th career win and his first in the Brawn, moving him back into second place in the standings and bolstering Brawn's challenge for the constructors' crown.

Lap 57: Glock now posts the fastest overall lap with a stunning 1m38.683s.
Lap 57: Rosberg continues to pressure Kovalainen for fourth but there is little he can do on the final lap.
Lap 56: For the second time in the last five laps, Timo Glock sets the fastest sector time, and now for a third time in the first sector of the following lap. He remains down in 14th but the Toyota bosses in Japan will be asking where that pace has been all afternoon
Lap 56: Barrichello is on to his penultimate lap and heading for victory in Valencia.
Lap 55: The battle for sixth between Alonso and Button looks to be settled in the Spaniard's favour. Button's progress has stopped in the last couple of laps and they run almost five seconds apart.
Lap 55: Nico Rosberg is starting to close on Kovalainen's McLaren, with Heikki seemingly struggling for pace at this late stage.
Lap 54: Down the field, the gaps are static with little prospect of any further position changes.
Lap 54: Barrichello continues to lead comfortably from Hamilton and Raikkonen with four laps to go in Valencia.
Lap 52: Button takes another second out of Alonso and the gap between them is now 2.8 seconds.
Lap 51: Jenson Button's charge in seventh continues as he chases down Fernando Alonso. The gap is under four seconds and the championship leader will be on the local hero's tail by the end of the race.
Lap 51: Lewis Hamilton posts his best time of the race as he closes to under six seconds behind Barrichello, keeping the pressure on the leader.
Lap 51: Glock pits from 14th place and it is clearly a short stop to take him the remaining eight laps to the flag.
Lap 50: Behind Webber who is ninth, Adrian Sutil has resumed 10th place in the Force India and sits just eight seconds away from the points. Nick Heidfeld is 11th with Fisichella 12th, Trulli 13th, Glock 14th, Grosjean 15th and keeping the Renault going, Alguersuari 17th, Badoer still touring round as best he can in 18th and Nakajima bringing up the rear.
Lap 49: Button has the gap down to under six seconds as the chase of Alonso continues.
Lap 48: Jenson Button is finally getting on with it in the Brawn. He just set the fastest lap of the entire race - 1m38.874s and he is now seven seconds behind Fernando Alonso in sixth.
Lap 48: The gaps between the drivers at the front are quite significant at this stage with 10 laps remaining in Valencia.
Lap 47: At the back end of the points, Jenson Button is now seventh and trying to salvage a result from a race race. Robert Kubica is eighth and set to score in the BMW. Mark Webber lost out badly during that pitstop exchange and is now ninth and over three seconds behind Kubica.
Lap 46: Nico Rosberg is again well in the points, fifth, alead of Alonso, Button and Kubica.
