P-G Andersson relieved to be back on gravel for Rally of Scotland

Andersson has yet to taste the Proton Satria Neo S2000 on gravel in competition, but he says a pre-event test and the recce have whetted his appetite for a return to the dirt.

"It's definitely good to be back in the forests," said the two-time Junior World Rally champion. "I feel more comfortable on this surface and I really feel I can make more of a difference with the car on these kind of stages.

"The car feels very good, the handling is strong with the car. I'm looking forward to the start of the event, I know what I'm capable of when I'm on the gravel."

Andersson added that a sensible approach could pay dividends this week.

"I think there will be quite a few rocks around," he said. "So keeping the car in the middle of the road is going to be really important, I think it will be quite easy to pick up a puncture. Some of the stages are quite slippery in places, but in general the roads are really nice with good character and some nice technical places as well. There's a bit of everything in there."

Rally of Scotland clerk of the course Iain Campbell admitted the roads were slippery, adding: "That's something I've heard from a few of the guys, but it's worth remembering they're on a racing line which isn't really used much by the logging trucks coming in and out of the woods."
