Felipe Nasr confident of strong Spa F3 results, despite poor qualifying
British Formula 3 championship leader Felipe Nasr remains confident he can score some good results at Spa this weekend, despite recording his worst qualifying results of the season
The Brazilian will start 10th for Friday afternoon's first race and a season's worst 20th for Saturday's 40-minute feature event, after being one of several drivers to make the wrong call on tyre choice in the closing minutes of qualifying.
The circuit improved rapidly in the latter stages of a difficult session and the top 11 qualifiers all set their fastest times on slicks.
Nasr and his Carlin team-mates Jack Harvey, Jazeman Jaafar, Kevin Magussen and Rupert Svendsen-Cook were among the remaining runners who elected to stay on wets.
Harvey was the fastest of these in 12th, 2.7 seconds adrift of Carlos Huertas, who was the only Carlin driver to change onto slicks. Nasr wound up 10.816s adrift of poleman Roberto Merhi.
"Sometimes we get it wrong," said Nasr. "For today I'm 10th, so we should score some good points. The second race is going to be tough - all those cars around me, lots of mess, but that's the way it is and we have to confront that. I'm pretty confident; the car seems to be very good in all conditions."
