Ganassi set for Indy announcement

Chip Ganassi is due to announce that Team Taget will enter two cars in the Indianapolis 500

A press conference is scheduled for Tuesday with the team expected to announce its entry into this year's race - the first time it has run since 1996.

Juan Montoya and Jimmy Vasser will pilot the cars, with newly hired Andy Graves expected to manage the team.

Vasser finished 22nd in the 1995 Indy 500, his only appearance in the historic race.

Team owner Ganassi placed eighth in 1983, his best finish in four Indy 500 races.

It is understood that both drivers might participate in the Indy Racing League event scheduled for April 22nd at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway as a preparatory race for Indy.

Although the team has investigated all three chassis currently being used in the IRL (G Force, Dallara and Riley & Scott/Reynard) it is believed that Ganassi will use G Force chassis with the Aurora Indy V8 engine.

The team's new associate sponsor is expected to be named during the press conference.
