BTCC 2017: Turkington turns first laps back in WSR BMW

Double British Touring Car champion Colin Turkington says being reunited with WSR's BMW 125i M Sport in a test at Brands Hatch was "just like coming home"

The Northern Irishman, who this week rejoined the team with which he won his two titles, shook down his and team-mate Andrew Jordan's car on Wednesday.

They will now be taken to Spain for a week-long test along with a number of other BTCC teams, beginning on February 27.

"It was certainly a very familiar feeling getting back into the cockpit," said Turkington.

"It was like coming home. I was comfortable straight away, and we just went out to perform systems checks on both of the cars before we get into testing in earnest.

"I was only able to get an initial feel for the car as we weren't going for times - it wasn't about that.

"But the car has moved on in the two years since I have raced it, that is obvious, so there will be plenty to get to grips with."

Turkington last raced a BMW in the BTCC in 2014, and has spent the last two seasons with Team BMR, in a VW CC and then with a brand new Subaru Levorg.

WSR has announced Turkington and Jordan as part of its three-car line-up, with news on a third driver expected before the end of the month.
